Attribute<\/strong><\/td>\nDescription<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Global<\/em><\/td>\nAttributes that are available to any HTML5 element. For comprehensive documentation of these
attributes see: MDN Global attributes<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
name<\/em><\/td>\nA string representing the name of an output. As a form element, output can be referenced by it’s name
using the document.forms property. This attribute is also used for collecting values on a form submit.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
for<\/em><\/td>\nA space separated list of form element ids (e.g. <inputs<\/em><\/strong> id=”inp1″<\/em>><\/em><\/strong> for value is “inp1”) that the output is meant to display calculations for.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
form<\/em><\/td>\nA string representing the <form><\/em><\/strong> that is associated to the output. If the output is actually outside the , <form><\/em><\/strong> this attribute will ensure that the output still belongs to the <form><\/em><\/strong> and subject to collections and submits of said <form><\/em><\/strong>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/figure>\n\n

Output Element Using For and Form Attributes<\/h2>\n\n

The following demo features an <output><\/em><\/strong> element’s use of the [for]<\/em> and [form<\/em>] attributes. Keep in mind, <output><\/em><\/strong> needs JavaScript<\/strong> in order to function. Inline JavaScript is commonly used in forms as this example demonstrates. Although the <input><\/em><\/strong> elements are type=”number”, their values are not numbers, they are text. So if you require the values to be calculated, you must convert each value into a number using methods such as: parseInt<\/em>(), parseFloat<\/em>(), Number<\/em>(), etc.<\/p>\n\n
